The Department of English, started in 1961, is the largest in the college with a staff strength of 20 against the sanctioned strength of 22, handling 222 hours of PART II ENGLISH and 126 hours of MAIN and ALLIED ENGLISH for over two-thirds of the students of the college.

The English Main was started in 1968 and M.A. English in 1979. In 1989 the P.G. course was shifted to KMCPGS. The English Literature and English for careers course was introduced in 2001-2002. The B.A. English main course was made vocational and Job-Oriented with the introduction of FUNCTIONAL ENGLISH in the syllabus in 2002-2003.

The Department Library has 270 books.Computer Aided Language Lab- CALL is being installed, with the encouragement and support from our principal, at the cost of nearly rupees one lakh to cater to the needs of the ENGLISH students for learning PHONETICS and SPOKEN ENGLISH.
